Welcome to Hide and Seek, or Jetlag!
Jetlag is a game invented by a bunch of YouTubers who played hide and seek across Japan.
If you want to get an idea of what a game looks like, have a quick (or long) look at this video.
Be warned that it is a rabbit hole you may be stuck in for hours. =)
Requirements for Jetlag:
- Smart Device, with constant (+ consistent) access to the internet. Tablet may be easier if available, in addition to your phone.
- Access to the following sites:
- This website has all of the questions you will be able to ask and is a very useful and solid foundation for taking part in the game.
- https://taibeled.github.io/JetLagHideAndSeek/ <- this is the map
- This website is the mapping software we will be using. It has built in functions for all of the questions you may ask that can directly affect the map the hider (Tim) could be in, such as radars or thermometers, and can be set up to automatically determine the outcome of a question based off of a location.
- When we play the game, you will receive a much larger link to this website that will have some elements of the game state, such as it defaulting to Melbourne instead of Japan, and metadata (unreadable) of Tim’s location to automatically answer questions.
- Also, in order to view train lines and stops on the map, it will require a Thunderfrost API key. You can generate one of these to be pasted into the portion of the map at Thunderfrost, and it should be pasted into the map here:

- Public Transport information
https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/journey/ or the PTV app on any mobile device: This is necessary for finding out when the next public transport you can take is, and whatever public transport Tim possibly could have gotten to narrow down potential options.
- A myki with at least 15 dollars. You will be travelling on public transport for at least 2 hours, you will need at minimum a full days fare for your tier of myki (slightly over 5 bucks for concession/child and slightly over 10 for an adult).
- 2x 6 sided dice. These are necessary for completing some of the curses that may be placed upon you
- ~$10 pp (+ potential lunch money). Some curses involve buying things, like lemon phylactery, which requires you to tape a lemon to your arm before asking another question, and so it is wise to make sure you have enough money to do so.
- Telegram (Google Play or Apple App) to share your live location with Tim whilst you attempt to track him down. This will allow optimal curse usage, and also to communicate information about the game, such as questions answered, and curses played.
Important Information
Tim will begin his 90 minutes hiding time at 10:00 AM at Blackburn station and has until 11:30 to get to wherever he wants on public transport (train lines).
The hiding zone must be centred on a train station, and Tim must be within 400 metres of said train station during the entirety of the time we are seeking.
Tim must freeze upon someone’s entering of his hiding zone, not allowed to move from where he is standing when he learns of that.
Tim must answer any question from the list on jetlag.collinj.dev truthfully and within 5 minutes.
In return for answering questions, Tim receive cards that allow him to cast curses, veto/randomise an asked question or give him bonus time at the end of his stint as the hider.
Happy Hunting!!
